Reports from local media outlets have it that, John Pombe Magufuli, President of Tanzania has fulfilled his promise to not waste the country’s resources on unnecessary travels abroad.
John Magufuli who is one of the most revered Presidents in Africa has successfully completed his first term in office without even moving beyond East Africa.
Under very demanding international situations, e.g, meeting with world leaders, the President delegates diplomats to represent him.
One of the earliest things he did after taking power for the first time was to cancel unnecessary foreign travels by government officials. A statement from his office stated that, “the president has put a halt to all foreign trips by government officials with immediate effect.” Trips that were very necessary has to be vetted and approved.
John Pombe Magufuli directed government officials to rather pay regular visits to nearby villages to access and address the “grievances and problems of the people”.
His leadership drove significant economic progress in Tanzania; the country has graduated into the regions of a Middle Income Economy.
The good people of Tanzania have voted him into power to serve another term and continue his good works. We wish many African President’s will learn from him to make the continent a better place.
