Abakaliki from a Village to City,meet a Nigerian Governor who Changed the story of his people

Abakaliki is the capital city of Ebonyi State in southeastern Nigeria, located 64 kilometres southeast of Enugu. The inhabitants of Abakaliki are primarily members of the Igbo tribe , the third largest tribe in Nigeria .
Abakiliki was the headquarters of the Ancient Ogoja province of Nigeria before the creation of the Southeastern State in 1967, seven years after Nigeria’s Independence.
We still have very few true Leaders in Africa who thinks about the masses and one of them is a Nigerian Governor by Name Dave Umahi . He is the Governor of Ebonyi State in Nigeria .
Abakaliki, as in the past, is a center of agricultural trade including such products as yams, cassava, rice, and both palm oil and palm kernels,. It is also known for its local lead, zinc, salt, and limestone mining or quarrying. According to Wikipedia , the population of Abakiliki is estimated at 775,604 base on 2015 survey.
Like it has been previously stated, Abakaliki is the Capital city of Ebonyi State , in Nigeria and the settlers are popular for rice farming. The city of Abakiliki is one of the largest producers of rice in Nigeria. it’s this man who have changed the story of Abakaliki upon his ascension to power as the Governor.
Before now , Abakaliki was nothing to talk about, it was one of the interior and bushy cities in Nigeria.
Today , it takes a leader like Dave Umahi 5 years to change the story of Abakiliki .

READ: A few Decades back, the mention of “Abakaliki” brings to mind- (Rural) Rice Farmers/Sellers, Dusty Community and Hawkers of all sought on Major Highway in Various Cities and States
People viewed as a Community living in the Medieval Time; a group of timid and uneducated Humans with no exposure and civilization.
Even after the creation of our darling Ebonyi State in 1996, People’s Mindset were still indifferent, for all they cared, we are Backward!
Ebonyi Indigenes moved around with an ‘Invisible’ Label hung and bolted to their Neck which came to Light once he or she said “I am from Ebonyi State”, the response was “Okwa Ndi Abakaliki” which transcribe “He/she is from Abakaliki”
Ifeoluwa (who did her National Youth Service in Ebonyi State in 2019) was dazed when she received her NYSC Call Up Letter and saw EBONYI STATE, she had to recite 36 States and Capital to realize she have been saying Ebonyi – Abakaliki. People told her she was going to a Bush, a Village!
When Ife finally came to Ebonyi, she was Stupefied! She saw a State beaming with Beauty!
We are no longer seen as (Rural) Rice Farmers/Sellers, Land covered with Dust, Hawkers in other States, WAWA (The meaning of this Acronym is too profound to write) or called Uneducated and Timid
Ebonyians now stand Tall! Been boosted by this Present Administration under the Leadership of Chief Engr David Umahi
From a Dusty-Small Town full of Timid Farmers to Atlantis emerged from the Sea in its full Splendor
Now Ebonyians can Proudly say “I am from Ebonyi State” with all confidence as the People are being empowered every passing moment
We now boast of Ebonyians ably representing us in every Sector in the Country and World at Large; breaking Records and setting new ones just like our Able Governor Chief Engr David Umahi and his Beautiful Wife Rachael Umahi among others
At this rate of Development/Empowerment, we will end up indeed Seasoning the Nation
We are Strong
We are the Salt of the Nation
We are Proudly Ebonyians!
We have moved from the Back to the Front!
