The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H. E. Dr. John Pombe Magufuli has taken oath of office for a second five-year term which ends in 2025.

Several dignitaries were in attendance at the swearing in ceremony, including among others, His Excellency President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, His Excellency President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, His Excellency President of Comoro, Azali Assoumani, His Excellency Vice President of Botswana, Slumber Tsogwane, the Prime Minister Carlos of Mozambique, Agostinho do Rosário, and the Prime Minister of Burundi Alaine Bunyoni.

The National Electoral Commission (NEC) declared Mr Magufuli winner of the October 28 general election, after garnering 12.5 million votes representing 84.4 per cent of the total votes cast.
The president took his oath before Chief Justice Prof Ibrahim Juma at Jamhuri Stadium.
